Rubber Tracks
Social, TVC, Viceland TV show
Converse is the shoe of choice for nearly every indy band in history. So to pay it back, we launched Converse Rubber Tracks, a global initiative to help unsigned acts record their demo track.
We chose 4 unsigned acts from around the world to record record their demo with 4 music legends, at the most iconic studios in music history. In a 4 part documentary we captured each bands life changing journey.
EP 1: Chinese punk band, The Pumpkins from Shanghai meet Marky Ramone at Berlin’s world famous Hansa Tonstudio.
EP 2: Brazilian band Water Rats travel to Seattle, WA to cut their demo at Avast Recording Company.
EP 3: Dab from London takes time out from his studies to record with Mark Ronson at the legendary abbey Road studios.
EP 4: Magic Gang from Brighton travel 4700 miles to record with Sly and Robbie at Tuff Gong Studios.
To kick off our campaign, Iggy Pop helped us get the word out and recruit up and upcoming bands from around the world. Our recruitment ads went out all across the Vice Media platforms such as Noisey and Viceland.
A supplementary film was created to drive people to watch our 4 part documentary series.
